Based on the quality of the images I am receiving, it would appear that my Dish 6000 receiver converts 720p to 1080i. Does anyone know the steps involved in this conversion?

I am intrigued by this question because ABC's broadcasts in 720p look just as good as CBS' broadcasts in 1080i on my Sony KP-65XBR10W - which is capable of receiving the 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i digital formats; but, converts 720p to 480p.

The Dish 6000 will output either 1080I or 720P. Its your choice. I use 720P because I can clearly see the interlace flicker on bright scenes with 1080I. Of course my screen is 117".

To set the output on the Dish 6000, you'll need to go into the menu and set it under "HDTV Set-up"
