In trying to sort out all of the possible connnection issues with my planned new setup, I have another question. Is there any way to get a signal (other than DISH -- say DVD for example) into the 6000 to take advantage of its scaling ability?
Well, actually there is, but I don't know why you'd want to do it. Get an RF modulator and feed composite video and audio into it from your DVD player. Buy the OTA tuner for the 6000 if you don't already have it. Hook the modulator up to the F-connector on the 8-VSB tuner. Tune the tuner to channel 3 (or 4). The picture will look like ****, but it will be 1080i, or 720p.
The 6000 is mediocre at upconversion compared to a good external line doubler/scaler, or a good internal line doubler (Pioneer Elite). Get an external scaler or a better TV.
