I have a Dish 6000 pulling in the signal from the 148 satellite. Virtually every time I switch to it, the signal strength is about 40 -- usually too low to receive the HBO or Showtime HDTV signal. But if I disconnect and then reconnect the satellite, the signal strength goes up to 80 or so and everything is fine. I thought bad connector, but the weird thing is that it doesn't matter where I do the disconnect/connect thing -- at the satellite, at the entry into the house or at the receiver. The other odd thing is that I normally leave the receiver on, so you would think once it's working okay it would stay in that state. Here's a possible clue: I only get a signal on odd transponder. Thanks for the help.

Check your lnb. Check you cables. How about trees blowing in the wind? Moisture in the cables can ground the voltage to the lnb. Replace the cables or run a temp out the window to check the dish. Switch your lnb from one on the 110 or 119. Good Luck
