I have a question for you guys. I'm having a problem with my 8vsb I think it's dead when I put it in the 6000 recognize it but no channels when scan or manually put them in digital or analog. So could it be the 6000 or the 8vsb? With the price of 6000 dropping to $199 with the 8vsb and 8psk would it be worth it to get just a new 8vsb and if I do get one and the problem still there can it be returned?

Richard,

I've had one dead 8VSB module.

I found a good rule of thumb to tell if its working. When you go into add digital channels manually it will be on channel 2. Wait a few seconds. If the unit is working correctly the strength bar will momentarily go from red to 100% green and back again. At the same time channel 2 will flash.

I'm guessing this is the unit initialising.

If it does this, its working. If it doesn't its dead.

Dish will replace these under warranty. If you didn't buy it from Dish, they also have no record of when you bought it........
