Question

I have a Dish satellite and am using it for SD as I have antenna/tower setup for network HDTV (Chicago and Champaign areas) I have always had the dish signal hooked up to DVD player/recorder with RCA cables (red yellow white) I have never used the S-Video output. I just ordered a S-Video/audio combo cable and am curious, will the S-video actually improve standard viewing or is it one of those things that's in the eye and the imagination of the viewer. It's not a big deal the cable costs 3.76 shpg included so I didn't have to mortgage the home.

Yes, Svid will be a superior signal to the old school yellow Composite output. Quite a bit better.

Well thank you, now I will be beating myself up for not hooking S-video up because even a dummy like me can unplug and replug cables. It was just something I did not bother with. I keep saying I'm not the brightest bulb in box, I just hate it when I keep proving it.

I use the Svideo and it down-converts HD tv from my DISH box to my replay... when recorded at MEDIUM, it looks, well, just amazing. The brightness of color and such are not the same as 'real hd', but it's damn good considering how old the RTV 5k box technology is.
