I made the switch to Dish Network and they gave me the VIP222k stb. My IR blaster is having trouble communicating with the stb to change channels. When I sent the request to change the channel the stb displays an error stating that there is something wrong with the remote and the wizard pops up saying move the remote closer, re-enter the channel yada yada yada. I see the ir blaster blink and the my windows 7 x64 machine displays the correct channel banner on the screen - however the channel never changes unless I use the dish remote. I can't have that as I occasionally use orb to view program on my cell phone.

Either way, I was hoping someone has found a way around this - I don't mind have to purchase anything as long as it works - thanks...

Hey Michael, thanks for the reply...

I tried to do what I could remotely and only saw the option to choose 3 numbers - well sure enough the channels now change - the zero is killing it. Cant seem to watch a channel that has the number zero - looks like I am making progress and will try again tonight when I get home. Thanks for your input - almost canceled dish cause of this.

The zero button on my remotes if pressed and held, enter a setup mode so you can assign a remote to a certain tuner in the stb. Then be able to watch tv on that tuner in another room - is that the same with your stb?

Thank you and I'll let you know how I make out!

Ok, I configured it just the way you said. All I really had to do was change the channel digits count. I cant get it to work with any of the stb code - however everything is still not perfect. I can not change to a channel that has a zero in it. Curious to see what you think about all this - thanks for the help. What do you think about going to 2 digit channels?

I did try the slow setting and it was too slow - it was duplicating the digits, I went to medium and it seems to be working. Also I figured a way around the zero in my situation. Instead of pressing and holding it to learn the zero I tapped it and it took it - go figure. The long press of the zero was what was throwing it off. Eithe way now my final obstacle is getting past the daily update. Apparently after it does the update it puts some kind of banner on the screen where it requires you to press select to get back to normal tv. This wont help me with my Orb app when I am on the road. But did some testing and found that if the dish bopx is off at the time of the update it will automatically update itself the next time its on without displaying the banner. So far this worked 2 out of 3 times. Thanks for your help, let me know how you make out!
