Hello all,

I have noticed on my Disney DVDs that I get Spanish subtitles whenever text comes on the screen, such as sign. One example I can think of off the top of my head is Pirates of the Caribbean. In the beginning when Jack first comes in and there are pirates hanging, there is a sign that says something like: "Pirates be warned." Whenever that sign comes up I get a Spanish subtitle translating it.

This happens no matter what DVD player I am using. I can go through all my settings and verify that I have subtitles turned off.

Anyone have any ideas of what is causing this and how to stop?

Thanks!

Are you using a TV as a monitor that supports closed captioning? Maybe you have some form of spanish caption activated. That's really weird. :)

Well, it is happening on both a zenith dvd player with an X1 projector and a cheap cyberhome dvd player with a cheap tv.

So, I don't know...

There seem to be duplicate scenes on that DVD. Look at the DVD with DVDshrink and you'll see the extra tracks without the text in the main title track.

If your player has a "prefered subtitle language" try selecting one you never see on dvd's like Zulu.
