Howdy,

I'm a newbie at the whole HTPC thing, but I've got a simple setup going.

Win2K (Dual PII 450, 1GB RAM)

ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder PCI 32MB out to a Magnavox 27" TV (I'm getting an HDTV when I move to a new house next year)

Creative Labs Ensonique PCI Sound Card

DirecTV is the input source over S-Video

First question:

How do I calibrate my display? I know where all the settings are at, but how do I do better than: "Well that looks OK to me." I'm assuming there's certain calibration graphics and such I should use, any help on that?

Second question:

Do I need a better sound card? I'm just using this for the digital VCR feature and TV-On-Demand with the Radeon (wrapped with custom software I'm currently writing). I notice an audio/video desynchronization after having it in the on-demand mode (buffered recording) for a short while (<15 minutes sometimes). It's outputting to a Denon Dolby ProLogic receiver (AVR-700 I think, and the dolby digital one comes next year also). Is this sound card as good as I need (it cost $30), or do I want something better than that?

Thanks,

Narflex
