Display output

Not sure if this was addressed anywhere.. I looked thru a few pages and couldn't find if someone already brought this up. I have the A-30 connected to my LG 37 720P LCD... When watching a movie (HD or non) the display on the A30 shows the output being 1080P which confuses me b/c the TV (as far as I know) isn't 1080P. When I connected it to my DLP 1080i, the display shows 1080i which I think would be correct since that's the highest resolution on the TV. Anyone encouter, notice or know what, if anything, is wrong?? Thanks.

HDMI can negotiate the highest resolution any given display can take.

I'd bank your LG will take 1080p even though it is not a 1080p display.
so, does that mean that if my a3 was outputting at 1080i via component, but now only 720p via hdmi that my fujitsu p50xxxxx's native res is 720p and therefore the a3 will only output that res without being able to overide that?
Can't you set it to output no more than 720P? My A35 has such an option in the setup.
the a3 has an "upto 1081" setting which I believe I was getting via component. apparenty hdmi ratted me out and can only do 720p. still looks great, but I'd rather have the say so in a relationship for a change.

Some TVs will accept a 1080i or p signal and scale it to their native resolution, which can be 720 or 768 for flat panels. My 720 panny (768 native) tells the XA1 that 1080i is welcome, for example.

But if your display says it wants 720, thats what it will get.... at least with a player that does not force the issue.

Is there a setting on the TV that forces/alows the HDMI interface to run at 1080?
