Display power on problem

I have experienced my first annoyance with my Vizio display.

I am hooked up to Comcast's Motorolla STB via a DVI cable. I always leave my STB powered on but turn the Vizio off with the remote. Lately, every time I power up the Vizio to view programming, the picture is distorted showing the right 2/3's of the picture at the left side of the screen and the missing left 1/3 of the picture on the right side of the screen with a distinct line running throught the picture and terrible noise throughout the picture as well. It is an alarming sight at first. But after dealing with it for a couple of weeks, I have given up trying to fix it. When I change the channel on the STB it immidiately goes away and shows normal picture. However, this is very annoying having to immediately change the channel every time I turn on the Vizio.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My first thought was that it was the STB, but after ponderring it for so long, I am not quite sure. Anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks

If you are tuned to an HD channel when this happens, and changing the channel fixes it, this has been a problem with the firmware in the Motorola for a couple of releases. So far it is not fixed.
