The displayPort interface, the successor of DVI, gradually conquers popularity. VESA already prepares the specification of displayPort 1.2.

The appropriate ports are frequently used in notebooks, video cards, monitors & motherboards. DisplayPort 1.2 will ensure a sufficient capacity for a resolution of 3840x2160, with 30 Bit color.

Annoying change... it's supposed to be a standard and now it's adding an alternative connector just to keep a vendor happy that likes to do things it's own way (Apple). There is no technical purpose; this is just caving in.

What I'm waiting for is daisy chaining, so a laptop can use multiple monitors.
