hi. i have a pair of old B&W 801 matrix s2 which i connected to a newer Marantz SR8500 THX surround reciever. is this disrespect of a fine speaker??

Yes. Such a mis-pairing will soon result in total annihilation of the known universe. The only way out is to ship the speakers to me, where I will take pains to prevent such an event.
