Heres a link to this sub:

http://www.bang-olufsen.com/web2/sys...=ls&prodid=282

its such a great looking sub, probably impossible to replicate 100% but I think its possible if i tried a fiberglass enclosure. I could use a large deep bowl or something for the base of it, put the rings and amp stand and cover it with fleece and then after coating that, make another bowl made of resin using the initial bowl for the top, and then fiberglass the whole thing and paint it (id have to obviously find a bowl that if put on itself was big enough for the whole enclosure)

what do you guys think? I dont have that much experience in fiberglassing and have 0 experience in DIY HT subs but i think this would be an awesome project.

feedback, suggestions?

actually heres a perfect example of what id like to build ( attached)

thinking about using a dayton reference hifi 12" with an external crown XLS-202 amp which would allow for the custom enclosure.

I built a spherical enclosure once..

running nice ever since..

I used a styrophor ball 40 cm in diameter (my drives was 8 inch (20 cm) Visaton

and added about ten layers of fiberglass onto it..

I have some pictures, but they are not online atm..

will see what I can do..

nice man---hows the SQ from that and how did it end up turning out lookswise?

yeah --would love to see some pics and also some more about how you did it like how you put the driver in the enclosure since you didnt make a replicate mold, but rather a sacrificial mold. Did you manage to cut a hole in the ball without it breaking apart, because i wanted to just make a sacrificial mold but wasnt sure how I would put the amp or the driver in it considering how brittle styrofoam is.
actually i found your whole thread on the build mrsensitive----very cool and seems like you did a good job. All the info I need is there which is great. Unfortuntately, the pictures that you posted dont seem to come up. It just says "heres a picture of (this)" and then its just a blank space. It might be my computer though, im not sure.
pictures are back.. I needed the webspace for something else..

the plate amp is nicely tucked away in a closet..

it's one of those digital amps that doesn't need a lot of cooling..
