I am just wondering if anyone has made themselves a component to VGA cable to use with the X1 for example.

I have a good line on a vga connector with aligator clips that techs use for testing monitors, but am wondering if I can solder those to components or if there are component plugs that have screws inside that I can just cut the ends strip the wire and screw it to the components and cover.

Would this work or would I lose video quality?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc

I'm using a Standard Monitor cable (AWM 2990) which has one HD15 end cut off and replaced with 3 goldplated RCA plugs on the R, B, and G wires, and it looks fine to me. I'm considering making a second cable out of R59 coax to compare with, but I see no artifacts, ghosting, or noise problems with the the one I've got.

Based on my limited understanding of this, a DVD player output starts rolling off at about 7mhz, and since I have no HD source to worry about (which would need up to 30+ Mhz) my "made out of spare parts" cable meets my needs.
