In order to clean up my rack I would like to make my own analog audio cables to my optimum length rather than using standard 1 meter lengths and having to coil up the excess.

What cable and connectors do you all suggest?

I would also like to make my own component video cables for the same reason.

My current overly long Optical, HDMI and DVI cables will have to do I guess?

Recommendations would really depend on your equipment. Video cables and SPDIF cables for the basics can be Belden 1694A with Canare RCAs. Audio cables can be Belden 89259 with Canare RCAs.


If you are going to make a lot, it would probably be worth your while to blow the $ on the Canare crimp and die set.

Personally, I like the Canare cable better than the Belden (a little more flexible). You could go with the L-5CFB or V-5CFB for the component and digital coax, and the L-77S for all the others.
