Like many, I have been frustrated by bad radio reception with my receivers. Finally I found this link that has a very cheap, simple to construct replacement for the wire dipole commonly shipped with receivers. I have only tested it briefly, but so far it works quite well. The only things needed are a wood plank (cardboard would work), some tin foil, 300 ohm twin lead wire from RS, and some tape and staples. The author reports good results from attic use, saying he simply constructed one on a beam instead of making it stand-alone. I want to move it to my attic and try it with my main system, but so far it sounds great with the garage stereo!
