DIY Speaker Reccomendations

Morning nutters...

Im old and lazy, and I have 4 little humans running around soon to be 5 so a from scratch build is not an option any time soon. Unless I find another nutter in my area lol.

DIYSG is all but shut down- and im having a hard time finding a proven design similar to the HT-10. Econowave- while cool for their time, most are double my budget. The SR Compact is nice but 0.6mh 15Awg is impossible to find anywhere.

Ive checked Curts site, Pauls site Matts site(He has a couple but older and unavailable CD's and way more then I can spend.), Madisound, Meniscus and many many more and no CD/Waveguide kits or plans. I have a small budget of $400 a pair or $200 per speaker.

I could be wrong, but at that price range you will be hard pressed to do anything except a Parts Express knockdown box and value sub. I would consider saving a few extra pennies and checking with local innovation shops in your area. These are springing up more frequently across the US. Assuming you are from the US. If not, a circular saw, reciprocating saw, clamps and glue can be had on the used market very cheap to build a good sub. Take your time and measure a lot.

Im good in the subwoofer department. Just interested in speakers. Budget is pretty decent heck if DIYSG wasn't outta commission there are plenty to be had.
At that price level, looking at the specs for the HT-10, I don't think you are going to find anything already built, unless you go used. The closest thing I can come up with is the Behringer Eurolive line. There happens to be a sale on this one:

Behringer Eurolive B212XL 800W 12 inch Passive Speaker
Ehhh, bro, like we discussed, you're going to need to put your big boy pants on and build your own speakers at that price point. $400 will easily get you there with MDF and the tools you already have.

You just need to design it, model it, build a small scale, test it, then go full scale.

Here's what I'm building. Last I knew everything was in stock at parts-express: Klipsh KL-650 Clones I spent almost exactly $700 on everything but the wood for 3 of them. Should be dead simple to build the boxes for these.

Good luck on your project!

I have detailed plans and a cutlist for these. Let me know if you'd like me to put them up here.

I have 3 theater 10s available. They are chase sho-10s replacements and sound similar.

Is there not a updated version with B&C speakers

Yes, but I believe that will be a paid plan when it is finalized. I'm building the design Toid gave away as a pandemic special. Either one should be great according to what I've read.

Someone Stateside might want to buy this WG10 Waveguide to put it through its paces. ( I'm just not interested enough to spend the $50. Cdn from our local supplier )

Assuming the $15.00 isn't a mistake ( instead of the older $35.00 price point ) > I'd say it's time to get some polars for this puppy to see if can replace some SEOS10 builds.

There are oodles of $50.00 - $100.00 compression drivers just waiting to support a revival of the eWave ideal.

Erin's polars of the SEOS10 ( from his 1099 Review ) would strongly suggest ( to these eyes ) that the SEOS 10 has an approximate 6db down point ( in the horizontal ) of around 70 degrees ( not 90 deg. )

The Eminence WG10 might be similar ( according to its sparse, printed matter ) > though in a bulkier package .

:)
