I've been doing a bunch of reading on DIY speakers. It started with me wondering if I could make cheap wall speakers using the raw drivers and parts. After more reading, I'm considering a full on speaker project or two.

I've boiled some speaker and enclosure making theory and thought I'd list it to see how wrong I have it:S I have no experience in this....but have a DIY spirit and tend to get things workin.

I'm thinking a full range driver to start - like I said, new to this..

Speaker driver alone: Tinny all around, good soundstaging, no bass

Speaker driver + small enclosure: Deeper sound, better mids, barely any bass.

Bass increases with size of enclosure

On the right track?

If were you at this point, I would define what I wanted in my music reproduction, both is sound and in monetary cost. Then you can read up on what you need to know to accomplish your goals. I know all about the learning curve. After being marginally out of it for about 25 years I came back to a Brave New World. And having the space, the time, and a bit more money, i wanted to build the best I possibly could. I had to do a lot of learning.

What is it that you want to have, and how much do you want to pay? What kind of music do you listen to?

Marlboro(most recent build is a full 8 foot line array with dual woofers, tri-amped, electronically crossed)
