Hi, every one.

First I apologize for my bad english.

I am a too impatient and disappointed owner of a DLA-G3010Z

that I use for HT.

Very poor black level, and contrast ratio.

It is very difficult to see details in dark scene.

I known the 3010z is not sales in US because poor contrast ratio and black level, but a similar model name DS1.

Is it differences between 3010Z and DS1

If yes is it a possibility to upgrade the 3010Z ??

Thanks you in advance for your help, and I hope you understand me

Alfred,

As I understand it - the DS1 is just a new name for the

DLA-G3010Z.

The next step up would be a G11 - but those are no longer

in production - but you may find a used one.

For new projectors - the next step up would be a G15.

Alfred,

Call here if you are looking for a G11. I know they have one in mint condition for sale.

Robert,

I have a DLA-G3010Z now

I bought it in the last of March in France For 13000 Euro.

My problem is : How I could upgrade it or tweak it because it will be very difficult to sales it for buy a G11.

Cylla,

I am afraid that your are out of luck. The 3010 has an optical path which severely limits its performance for HT, and there is nothing which can be done to improve contrast to a G11's level. The only way would be to try to sell it in the professional presentation video market where contrast ratio is not important. Good luck!

Alfred,

I have to echo Robert's sentiment, there is very little to be done about the performance of the 3010z and I think the DS1 is probably very similar in performance. I only wish you had found this forum earlier, Tom Stites, the person from JVC that posts here regularly, has always maintained that the 3010Z would be a very poor home theatre performer. What kind of screen do you have? If you don't have a grey screen of some kind, you should seriously consider one, it will certainly help your situation, the performance will probably not be stellar but you may not find it objectionable. Stewart makes the Greyhawk and Da-Lite makes the HC Da-Mat.

Kam Fung,

I have very bad luck.

I have also bought DILARD 2.1 but it doesn't work with the 3010z.

Now I am looking for sale my 3010z and waiting for the Sharp

or Marantz with the DMD 1280x720 and the new color wheel, before looking for a new screen.(I use a ORAY mat)

I have bought the DLA-3010z because I always see rainbow with old color wheel.

Thanks you for your help.

I am very happy to know this forum.
