DLA-HD1 now or wait for better?

1326 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JOHNnDENVER
I know this type of question is asked alot but I can't decide. I can get a NEW HD1 for half off MSRP. Is it a safe bet to jump on it or should I wait for something that may be as much money and better than the HD1. I am upgrading from my now "blue smeared" HS50
. I have owned that projector for about 3 years. I would just like to be good for another 3-4 years or so and want 1080p. So I could wait for something better than the HD1 for the price if I had to.

Thanks for your input,

Bryan

HD1

Is this just wishful thinking something might show up? There's no evidence someone has or will make a better projector for the same price or will be available soon.
Half of retail is below $3K. That is well below ALL dealer costs. Beware.

Sorry Mark. Looking at MSRP again it is a few hundred over half. But your right, it does seem like a good deal. Thanks for the warning.
Take it for what its worth...

Rs2 will continue in the line up unchanged, its lower down the price bracket that the changes are occurring.

If you had no projector and wanted one to use between now and CEDIA I would say that buying now would probably be a good idea. If your projector is almost unwatchable then that would be close to the same situation, but if your projector is still reasonable to use then I would probably wait to find out what info is out there after CEDIA. Especially given that you are looking for something for the next 3-4 years. There are of course a lot of factors that go into this, so this advice is just in general.

This comes with a manufacturer warranty?

I think I'd have to go for it if so.

Hella nice projector at that price point.
