I have a 61" Sammy DLP (HLN). The regular analog cable looks fine on my regular 37" tube tv, but when I watch regular analog cable on the DLP, I notice really bad static/noise on several channels (mostly locals, but also USA and such.)

The noise is either a varying amounts of snow (from very little to completely unwatchable), or vertical sine waves moving horizontally across the screen.

I was wondering if there's anything I can do to help clean up the picture of the analog cable on the DLP. I've tried using an amp but it didn't do anything.

bhoppe,

What kind of amp are you using? i have found that most from radio shack do not work well... i used to do service calls for a cable company and most bad pictures (snow or ghosting) were attributed to a bad amp or a bad splitter...

you also need to look at how many times your line is split or spliced from the Tap (at the pole or pedestal box) to your DLP... if your Drop is spliced a few times then runs to a ground block on the side of your house then runs to the (attic/basement/garage) and hits another splitter then runs to the tv and hits a two way splitter again.... you get my point... the line has too many splices/splits... you now have noticeable signal degradation...

if this is the case and there are several splices from the Tap to your ground block at the house, i would suggest calling your cable company for a service call... if they can not improve the picture quality ask them to replace the Drop. (They own this part of the cabling from the tap to your home/Apt) Sometimes a good Drop Amp can improve PQ but it can only do so much...

you should also check any/all of the splitters you have throughout the home/apt... splitters can and do go bad... sometimes all it takes is replacing 1 bad splitter and picture quality improves tremendously...

also keep in mind that blowing up a sd compressed cable channel to 61'' will result in some pixellation
