Well, I was in "The Peel Pub" in Toronto, and among the beasty CRT's there, I happened to sit a table where a DLP of unkown make/model was being projected on about 6 feet away.

The positive thing I will say is that even at this distance, there was only minor screendoor, which is truly amazing...the screen was 80" I think.

What I did see, especially being this close, was rainbows galore. I thought I was on drugs or something!

The worst thing about it though, was the halo around the image. Jesus, it was HUGE!..like 6-12" past the projected image.

My question is, is this inherint in DLP, or was this just a bad model?

My LT150 has a 4-5 inch halo with about 110" 4:3 diagonal picture.

So 6-12" halo for 80" is something I would call bad.

I would guess that the projector was being shown at its native resolution using a source that did not utilize the entire resolution of the panel.

For DLP utilizing it's enitre panel, what is the average halo size?

I know my LCD has a slight halo two, of about 2-3"
