DLP prices hikes ???

585 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  rogo
After the death of LCOS and TI being the only player left out, how do you all think it effects the DLP TV prices ?? I think it's just a matter of time before TI jacks up the DLP chip prices upto a couple of hundred dollars each. Go TI :p

TI will not jack up the price because even if LCOS were dead (which it's not) there will always be competition (LCD RPTV, plasma, etc.).
If anything, price will come down so they can sell more. And as said above, LCOS is far from dead, JVC is doing well.
LCOS has not just JVC (actually JVC + Aurora + UMC), but eLCOS working on a low-end solution, Brillian with a completed solution again awaiting an OEM (after their own failure to commercialize it), and significantly Sony, which hopes to use the tech in TVs down to 50" diagonal eventually.
