I read (in latest issue of PC Magazine) that Gateway computers is coming out with 2 DLP office projectors. Only details the write up had were:

SVGA - low $1k

XGA - low $2k

Does anyone know more about these? Are they suitable for Home Theater? The prices seem pretty good for DLP. Also these units are supposed to be a measly 3.5lbs.

i think you are talking about the 3200 and the 2100. neither seem to get glowing reviews as dedicated home theater projectors...but they are affordable. i think most people would recommend the x1 over them.

The 3200 and 2100 are Dell projectors. These are from Gateway.

I looked at the article again. The model numbers are 205 (SVGA) and 210 (XGA).

Specs from article are:

205 - 3.5lbs, SVGA, 1100 lumens, DLP, $1399

210 - 3.5lbs, XGA, 1500 lumens, DLP, $1999

Doesn't mention contrast ratio or color wheel speed though, which is why I was wondering if anyone else knew more about these projectors.

I don't think they are out yet as I didn't see them on the Gateway site.

I'm actually curious about the 205, since it is supposed to be a rebadge of the LG JT-D33 projector that has some system for reducing rainbows. I haven't seen any English language info on it, though. It could be interesting, if it actually helps.
