I am recording the Sopranos from the DirecTv HBO-HD feed from the S-Video port. Since I have a Sony HDTV with the squeeze mode, I am recording it stretched anamorphic. When viewed on my TV, I can just manually squeeze the picture.

My question is, if I want to give the disc to someone to view, is there a setting to put the 16:9 flag on the disc to tell a DVD player to convert to 4:3.

Basically I want to create "Enhanced for widescreen TV's" discs.

Thanks!

You can't. The Panny recorders flag anamorphic material as 4:3. Being able to properly flag 16:9 material is on the top of my wishlist for DVD recorders.

Thanks,

It's too bad I'll have to compromise on resolution if I want someone else to be able to view the content properly. It seems like it would be a fairly easy feature addition.
