While this is my first projector and screen in my own home I have seen many others in stores and in other peoples homes.

My wife took delivery of our L300U yesterday while I was at work, so on the way home I stopped by Home Depot and picked up a sheet of Do-Able products model #63036 4'x8' sheet.

I have seen the 300u projected on blackout cloth and it looked great but the Do-able board I believe looks better. The image appears crisper and more defined. Anyhow I just wanted to let all of you know that this ridged Do-Able products board is nice stuff and for $15.00 how can you go wrong.

It was in the lumber section right below the peg board. And actualy if the white side of the board is face down you wont notice it because it will look like peg board without holes. Its almost 1/4" thik (that is a guess).

Yeah I got a sheet myself. I am currently in the middle of painting screen goo on it. I have both basecoats on and have applied my first application of topcoat. I will be mounting it something this weekend. Sooner the better. :)

You most certainly have my attention. Please post your results with the goo. I have been curious what a first hand DIYer thinks especially when applied over a surface I'm familiar with. TIA

How did you guys mount the screen? Did you have to build a frame?

Thanks
Do-able comes in two depths, 1/8" and 1/4" at Home Depot. The 1/8 will need some kind of support while the 1/4 can stand alone. A few drywall screws, a level, and a screw driver gets you home. ( Make sure you hit the studs). Black masking adds a nice touch, too.

That sounds really easy and if it is, it will the most viable screen solution for me. The 1/4 screen sounds like it would be too thick to screw into though.

Are you drilling holes through each corner of the board and then using some drywall screws to screw it in the wall? Followed by covering up the screws with black masking along the border? Or are you using a bracket of some sort to hang it with?

Thanks again.

You can go either way, but the first is simplest. By all means take a moment to predrill the Do-able for a cleaner more professional looking installation. Masking not only covers the screw heads but is visually attractive and aids in light control as it frames your image. (Remember to drill your holes aligned with your studs, not on the corners. Using your stud finder locate a center stud and measure every 16" in both directions then anchor).

I don't have numbers or anything like that, but I will say I am 100% pleased with the way the screen turned out with the Goo Systems goo. My viewing experiance is so much better. The colors are more vibrant, they are smoother and a lot better detail! I highly recomend it!

Here are some links to images I took and posted up on the Klipsch fourm. I didn't take the images straight on so you will notice that the bottom of the scsreen is wider than the top, also you can see my remotes sitting on top of my center speaker in one of the images... Sorry. Also, I am not the best photographer and I am sure that these images don't speak show the full detail as it really appears on my screen.

I have not gone in yet with my Avia DVD to try and recalculate the image. Have not had time. Want to do that soon though. Before I was shooting on a pure white sheet of parkaland plastic. Now that the screen has a grey tent to it, I am thinking I may want to re-adjust the projector. However, Ken said that it would take up to 6 weeks before I get the FULL affect of the goo. I am wondering if I should just wait until then.
