Do any Scientific Atlanta STBs support RGBHV?

233 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  plaiming
Id really like to get HD from my local time warner instead of OTA. I called and they said they have Scientific Atlanta boxes but model could vary. I have a CRT projector that can do 1080i but only accepts VGA (RGBHV) input. Does anyone know if any SciAtl boxes support this output method? Could i do a DVI->VGA?

Don't believe so. But for some earlier/current boxes (e.g., 2000Hd, 3100HD) SA offered YPbPb-to-RGBHV transcoders to cable systems for customers. Scientific Atlanta used to have pdf-format transcoder descriptions at the customer section of its website. Some persistence with C.S. reps or a supervisor might land one, and they're generally free. A search under transcoders here should reveal several brands you can buy. Believe I've spotted queries about DVI->VGA; not positive, but think that'd require pro hardware. Only newer converters have DVI, and some cable systems haven't activated it yet. -- John
from what i understand, the 3250 has a DVI output port. im going to go in today and get the scoop as to whether its active or not. assuming its activated by TW, i read something about it have some kind of protection scheme on it and it would only work with some TVs. do you know if the DVI port on the 3250 is digital only?

The DVI port on 3250 is DVI-D digital only and requires HDCP on the TV side,
ok, i went by TW and they are giving out the 3250 box. they did say that the dvi is turned on, but if it really is only DVI-D, then i guess the only option is a component->VGA transcoder which the lady at the counter new nothing about.....is there any dip switches or anything inside the box that will enable the analog side of th DVI port?
