I was reading a CNET reviewer's comments on his new HDTV with CableCard, and he stated that with the cablecard, it took about 3 seconds to tune in each station, so he went back to his STB. I wondered if any Forum members that switched from STB's to a CableCard could verify this? The one big advantage of the cablecard is one less remote. Also it is cheaper to lease than a STB.

I know that the Panasonic unit that the MSO used to test cable cards was very slow. However, my Sony is as fast if not faster than the SA STB I have. Thus it appears to be make and model dependent.

I've found no real difference; the only thing I've noticed is that occasionally I have to force the TV to choose an input (STB/CC/other) when I first turn it on, but that's likely just Sharp specific.
