I get a bill from a collection agency saying i owe direct tv 250 dollars. I'm recently graduate from college and moved from my old apt to a new condo. I called to have my service moved, when the installer got there, DTV couldn't be installed because of a tree line in my neighborhood. I didn't have the option of cutting them down, i don't own the trees. The installer told me he would alert DTV that i wasnt able to get service. DTV sent me prepaid boxes to mail back HDTV satellite box and everything, i'm thinkin everything is fine, then i get a letter from collection agency saying i need to pay DTV 250 dollars for early termination!!!!! Upon calling DTV, i was told that in my old apt when i signed up i agreed to two year service(which i acknowledge i did) and when i moved it wasnt their problem that i couldn't receive service, so they HAD to charge me early termination. DTV is a freaking rip off!! Customer service stated that they dont make any money until after the 2year commitment, so they lose money when they couldn't move my service and that i am tied to my two year agreement, and owe them like 12.50 per month. I feel suckered by fine print, what options do i have?

I suggest you try the Directv section over at dbstalk.com, probably find a better answer to your problem. This section is more for hardware issues.

My understanding was with the movers connection if you can't get a signal you can get out of your contract but I could be wrong.

By the way

DTV = Digital TV

D* = Directv

Might wanna update your post so people know what you are talking about in the subject.

Good luck.
