Do i need a 3d receiver to watch 3d movies with a 3d bluray player ? can i watch them with my non -3D onkyo receiver?

Sure, connect your BD player directly to the TV and you'll have no problem. Then use an optical cable for audio from the BD player to the receiver.


More than likely your receiver will not pass a 3D signal. What receiver is it? What player do you have?

Generally no, although there are several 3D formats and one or two may pass through (just not guaranteed since it's not an HDMI 1.4 receiver). You could also get a dual HDMI BDP which passes video to the 3D TV and HD audio to the HDMI 1.3 receiver.

The link in his other thread for 308 shows it is HDMI 1.4, so it should work for 3D.
