Do I need a receiver?

455 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ken H
I'm in the market for a HDTV. I am probably going to get an LCD, and most of the ones i have been looking at are HDTV monitors. So i would have to buy a HDTV Receiver along with the TV, so I’m told.

My question is, can my digital cable box at as the HDTV Receiver, or am i going to have to pile yet another box on top of the rest of my equipment?

In the case where i need the HDTV Receiver, and the cable box, would it just be better to get a HDTV w/ a built in receiver??

Thanks in advance!

If you have an HD cable box, it is the receiver. If your existing cable box is not HD, call your cable provider and they will exchange it.

Correct.

Yes. All you need to do is exchange your current box for an HD box, which will receive all channels.
