I understand you pretty much need to run a dvd signal through a HTPC and software to upconvert it to 720p when you

use a CRT but must I get a CRT Projector that has HDTV and 720p capabilities? What about the native resolution. Most seem to be 800 x 600 native with 1024x760(compressed).

Thank you

Brodi,

Unlike LCD, DLP, and plasma, CRT's really don't have a native resolution, per se.

CRT's are categorized by their capability to resolve detail, their ability to handle high scan rates, and their brightness. For most modern projectors, resolution is the limiting factor.

Entry level 5.5" CRT projectors will resolve over 500p.

Most popular 7" CRT projectors can resolve over 600p.

An 8" EM focus CRT will resolve over 800p.

With careful setup, experienced people on this forum routinely exceed the resolutions I stated above.

All will look just fantastic when properly calibrated and driven by a correctly configured HTPC.
