Comcast user here, Just got a Comcast DVR from them yesterday ( had to go pick it up )


It came with no install instructions or anything so i pretty much just hooked it up like any normal cable box. If i set a recording via the remote/menu all works fine.


I noticed they offer a iPhone app and you can schedule recordings and what not on Comcast website also. Neither the APP or the Website detect my DVR box.


I was wondering though, do i need to plug in the ethernet cable from the box to my router for these options to work? ( i figured all the data would trasmit thru the coax cable, like my internet does) so wasnt sure. I plugged in a ethernet cable and still no luck ( though it does note sometimes it can take up to 24 hours and it has only been 30 minutes )
