Actually there are worse in viewing angels then the non-led TVs. Even the LED RPTV from Samsung was worse in viewing angles than the non-led RPTVs. I don't know the technical reason for it but so far everything LED that is out now has been worse in viewing angles than the non-led TVs.

From the reviews I have read on the LED backlit panels they have a narrower sweet spot then regular LCDS. It appears they are working on expanding the viewing angles but that may not be until the next crop or the one after that. LED "edge" lit seem to the hot ticket now. I think those are somewhere in between the CFL and LED backlit models, with fully backlit LED's having the best black levels. It will be a matter of give and take no matter which technology you choose. You may have to make a list of what's important to your needs and go from there.
