I am thinking of purchasing a new card, I gave up on htpc hastle and use an XA2 and PS3 but I do want a new card thats all DVI or (HDMI), and also want dual view what its called on geforce cards. BUt I can ati cards for cheaper like the 2400. I basically just want to know if these cards support 2 different resolutions on 2 different displays while both can display the same thing.

Basically I want a clone mode, but two different resolutions.

Please anyone know, ati still has not responded to my ticket, and time is running out for an offer to purchase one.
No, that's not possible anywhere. A clone by definition means the same resolution.
I thought someone once before nvidia called it twin view.

So basically my only option with ATI is to use either clone mode, or that stupid extended desktop thing which I have no use for?

I would just really like proper resolutions on two monitors with a desktop on both a mouse on both, mimicing the same thing, only two seperate resolution.
Pardon my ignorance but what then be best practice if I had a monitor and my projector hooked up via HDMI and I wanted to watch a movie from the PC in HD?

You'll have to set the required resolution on your primary screen and downscale/upscale on the secondary.

I don't see that as too much of a compromise.

I am trying to do the same thing. I have a GeForce 6600. Looks like it can only be done in dualview, which odd span mode of the desktop. Looks like I will have to use 2 video cards?
