Cant capture image but found this photo that appears to describe the symptoms and may help you visualize.

Do you see that vertical bar from top to bottom and to the right of the picture with very close horizontal lines? Thats what it looks like except its not disappearing into the side of screen like in the picture. Disregard all the other lines on the photo as they don't apply.

The bar with lines to the right on the photo are similar to what's seen on a new Samsung 1080p lcd.

Lines don't appear to be visible during tv viewing

Lines don't appear to be visible on the 360 dashboard.

They appear to be visible on the game menu, on the game video clip that plays in a game if you're on the menu and no button is pressed for a short period, and visible in the gameplay.

More visible in dark or black background but its there.

Tested with everything disconnected from tv except 360 which is connected via hdmi.

Does it say anything lines are not visible when 360 is connected to a tube tv?

What do you think?

It's called "image retention" kind of like burn in issue but it's temporary as long as you don't leave a still image. It really does affect the picture quality & can be annoying.

I've seen a couple of a450 owner having image retention symptom on their HDTV.

Thanks, but not sure if you read complete post. Doesn't appear to be "image retention" as nothing would have been in that same area that would have causd the alleged retention. Also above indicated in post that lines apparently not visible on dashboard or television viewing.
what rez is the xbox set to output? have you tried others? 720p, 1080i, 1080p etc..

is it there for all those settings>

It's image retention. Use the PC & put the whole screen grey.

Or at worst use paint & created a full grey jpeg pic & use the 360 with a USB stick, disk or use the router connection from the pc.

You will see that the image is printed on the screen. I have an old LCD screen that does that.

Doesn't sound like image retention.

Will it show up if you take a picture of it?
I have experienced problems sort of similar like that on my samsung and it was the xbox's (elite) graphic chip going out is wahts Microsoft told me.. When the lnt4665fx came out in 07' the first ones suffered from having so called outdated hdmi support and caused screen to go pink and blue flashing randomly..What tv do you have?? I have been thru a couple of xbox 360's just being problematic... But i still like it the most?!

Looks more like bad motion de-interlacing to me. Does it only happen on moving objects? As another poster said try other output resolutions on the xbox. Also try component connection. Also play with settings in the Tv related to motion compensation or film detection (ie 24/120/240Hz).
