So, you'd connect via RGB to your projector for HD signals. Then you'd connect via s-video (maybe component?) to your projector for SD signals? Is that this works?

Or would all signals come through the RGB pass thru? You'd only have to connect the RGB to your projector then?

If the second scenario is correct, then would you have to switch resolutions on the DirectTV HD receiver between SD and HD? Or is that done automatically?

Thanks!

I have a Directv Box and you can connect s-video or/and component..and I switch it on the remote. Or you can just run component for both HD and SD..very little difference..maybe slightly better for SD with S-Video. I run component for HD and for SD.

All boxes are not created equal. Check the specs on the different boxes or ask about a specific box.
