We are in the process of completing our basement and included within the plans is a 20' x 14' dedicated home theater room.

One problem we encountered was that the location for the door had to be at the front of the room which limited our screen size.

We have completed the Dricore, Framing and Pre-Wire. Next steps are to build the stage and bulkheads then on to electrical.

I have attached some pictures of the progress so far.

Looks good,

We are in the process of installing a HT in our basement and our dimensions are roughly the same 20X16X9.5. How do you like the Dricore and how easy was it to install?

Just an opinion (everyone has one) if I may.

From the looks of the picture of the wall where your screen and door are, it looks like it may be possible to relocate the door to the wall on the right. Is it at all possible? even if it is a little less convenient to access from that side or if it requires creating two doors to access this way I believe you would be much happier in the end.

I would recommend doing this otherwise not only are you looking at a smaller screen, it will also cause you to shift your seating to the left and that arrangement in my opinion is less than ideal.

With the door at the front of the room on the right side you have the room to go up in size on the screen and center it as well as the seats.

Just a thought, I have a similar arrangemenmt in the room I am relocationg our theater from and it maximizes the space and gives the best view and sound for most in the room.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

I agree with the previous poster. I think that door is going to be a distraction to you as time goes on. Any chance to relocate it?
