If I installed a 200 gig Maxtor 7200, 8Mb cache in a 5040 using rtvpatch 2.4 (which sees the full 203 gig), will the 5040 show the full amount of gigs available or just 38 gig (depending on your photo partition)?

Thanks.

The full 200GB would be accessible, turning your 5040 into a 5200 basically.

The 200 is accessible, but will it show up in the 5040.

Or is there problem in the hack process and that is why it would show 38 gigi available?

Thanks j.m.

Sorry, the entire 200GB should "show up" and be usable by the ReplayTV 5040. With the drive installed, your 5040 should report somewhere around 200 hours of recording time available at standard quality, 100 at medium, and 67 at high (these are estimates--maybe a little more or less).

If it doesn't, then you probably have a problem.

If you're saying you have the same available recording time as with the 40 gig you need to patch the drive. "Patch target drive" step moves the MPG partition and Photo partition to the end of the drive. Your replay should show 200 hours standard quality recording availability minus guaranteed shows.

So that's what the patch target drive is for.

Idiot, idiot, idiot:D

Thanks again j.m.
