Does a budget price mean problems?

Are there any 1080p DLP projectors in this forum's price range without issues? I have my mind set on DLP, but it seems as though there are potential dealbreakers with every new projector I research. At the sub $2000 price point, are nuances such as the below just something to be expected? I realize that I am not going to get the pinnacle of projection technology at an entry level price, but it just seems like there are issues with everything. I'm new to projectors, but have wanted one for quite some time, and I really appreciate the people here who are willing to help out!

HD20

-I was initially inclined to go for this one, but the rows of pixels at the bottom of the screen lag, as reported in the official thread. It appears Optoma has stated that there is no fix planned.

Mitsubishi HC3800

-Checkerboarding, shutting off, both documented in the official thread.

Mitsubishi HC4000

-This one sounded promising, but there are early reports of poor picture uniformity in the official thread. One member has gone through two units with this issue already.

BenQ W1000

-Only has a 2x color wheel, which I understand would increase the likeliness of seeing rainbows as opposed to something like the 4x in the HD20.

Vivitek H1080FD

-Projector Central states they saw more rainbows with this model than other comparable models.

I would first of all ask you to get first hand experience with DLP projectors, because even if a projector has a slow color wheel, not everyone is able to see them. And it varies from projector to projector. AND it varies from the environment.

Have you had previous experiences with DLPs? Cause it sounds like you're fixed on it, but do you know if you are prone to RBE effects?
I have been trying to find a place where I can demo different projectors, but I suspect that many other people have the same problem I do, that there are places that sell them, but none that display them. I basically live in a small town surrounded by farms and smaller towns. The internet doesn't really show anything around me where they would even sell them except for Best Buy, which is an hour away. The only way I can think of demoing one would involve abuse of their return policy, assuming it is as liberal with projectors as it is with their other products, and that seems really dishonest, so I refuse to do it. It pretty much seems that the internet is my only hope, which is why I am really trying to thoroughly research my options.
My main advice is take what you read with a grain of salt. For every one person on this forum with an issue, there are hundreds if not thousands without issue...

Basically any AV product can potentially have issue...that is why they include a warranty. Chances are you won't have one, but it is always an inherent risk.
The w1000+ has improved the rbe issue and also has better colors. You could also check the epson 8350.
Also the W1000+ (new model) has a 3x color wheel.
Thanks everyone for the replies, I will look into some of the other options mentioned and keep in mind the "echo chamber" effect the internet can sometimes have. I do quite a bit of lurking these forums, and I really trust the opinions here.

Wow... only if there were more individuals with this mentality. The world would be such a better place

But FYI, last time I checked BB has restocking fees for such electronic items to counter those who take advantage of their return policy hahah
