In the latest issue of The Perfect Vision, Peter Putman reviews 5 plasma displays. Mr. Putnam recommends placing a scaler between any plasma and DVD player. I don't have a problem with any of the DVD's I've played so far because I have a Skyworth which sends a really beautiful picture to the screen.

What I would really like to do is improve the standard digital picture. If I bring the signal in through the component input, it does improve but I then run the risk of burn-in as I cannot adjust the aspect ratio of the Panny 50. Has anyone improved their standard digital picture through the use of a separate scaler? Or do you simply magnify the noisy signal?
