I currently have a JVC XV-SA70B dvd player and a 27" display (hopefully will upgrade to a projector soon). I notice moire patterns during one scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey (don't have the exact times of the location, but it's a scene towards the beginning of the movie when the character first enters the space station). Anyway, I can give more details of where it occurs in the movie if necessary.
So my questions are:
1. Is moire just a fact of life in some scenes of some movies regardless of the dvd player/display combination? In other words, can they be completely eliminated with the right setup?
2. Will an HTPC help eliminate the problems?
