OK, I figure that there must have been some kind of training that Sony provided for their techs. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get my hands on some of that info. What other kinds of manuals exist besides the operation, installation and schematic manuals? What exactly is in the schematic manual? (I know that's not the proper name)

The Service Manual for my 1272 is part number 9-978-197-01.


It repeats the operation/installation info, and has sample waveforms, instructions for removing and installing various boards, some technical troubleshooting steps, and complete schematics. It's not particularly useful unless something goes wrong. But I made use of it to reset the G2 controls when I accidentally twiddled them. It has instructions for using a voltmeter to set those.
