Thist manifests itself in low light scenes where picture looks like color coded topograpy map without smooth color transitions.

I am just curious if you people see it with your DLP projectors and learn to ignore it or you don't have it.

This is usually a result of insuficient color depth (<8 bits) or commonly used 7bit gamma correction table.

What kind of projector and sourcing are you using? The posterization or "banding" effect has been talked about a lot here on this forum. With a little more info maybe someone can help.

It's not that I am having this problem, I use 3-chip Ampro alice 5200 and I cause this effect by misadjusting it.

I was just wondering how many people owning various DLP projectors observe the effect but learn to live with it.
