i'm asking this cause my mom wants to watch The Departed but she likes to watch English movies with Chinese subs so i'm wondering if Asia gets the same HD-DVD/Blu-Ray releases as NA?

No, AFAIK there are not any Chinese releases yet. There are Japanese and Korean release (Some titles the same, some unique) but I doubt these will contain chinese subs.

I can confirm that you can not buy asian version of HD DVD or Blu-ray movie in Singapore and Malaysia, I think none exist in the market. I think it is the same for Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
