I want to connect my computer to my LCD that is 50 feet away in another room. I have to use the DVI cable for this.

Does anyone know if i would need a DVI repeater though?

Thanks

In order to preserve signal integrity in long (49 feet +) runs of cable, you will.

I'm running a 50' DVI cable from monoprice.com without a repeater (1366 x 768 at 60Hz refresh, and it also worked perfectly in 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz). No issues, but I did have occasional sparklies with some video boards I tried.

Which boards gave you issues? I have a BFG 8800GT OC

Some cheap ones, I forgot, an old ATI 9200 that never worked correctly with my plasma display anyway, and an ATI X2400 that failed for other reasons long ago. It's the quality of the DVI transceivers, it appears. Stay with well established manufacturers and stores. You should be alright with an 8800 series -- in that price range they can afford good transcievers.
