Hi all. I'm new here.
I have a 30’ run from my cable box to my AVR and back to my 4K TV. I understand that I am best to use fiber optic cables for this due to distance. I would use 2, 10 meter cables,(thinking Ruipro). Question is, will directional fiber optic cable work with HDMI ARC since it is a directional cable? My components are;
Onkyo TX-NR777
Sony XBR950G,(55")
Source is cable box - Samsung SMT-C5320
I've got left and right speakers, front & back as well as a sub.
If you believe there is a better connection option then the 2, HDMI cables, please let me know what & how.
Help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance of a reply.

Use a single HDMI Cable and make sure that the manufacturer spec specifically says its supports ARC as some do and some don't, do not use any couplers or the such or you will have an issue
Thank you very much for your reply.
One more question;
Is it best to set up having one HDMI from cable box to say, HDMI 1 or 2 to my TV,(very short run with regular HDMI cable) and then, ARC out from the TV to ARC in to my receiver,(33' run with the fiber optic HDMI cable)?
I ask because I originally went cable box out to the receiver HDMI in(33' run with the fiber optic HDMI cable) and then ARC out of the receiver to ARC in at the TV(33' run with second fiber optic HDMI cable) and it didn't work correctly. I would get sound from regular TV to the external speakers but sound from TV only if I went to Netflix or Youtube.
Seems to work much better IN to TV from box and OUT of TV to receiver. I even have full control using only one remote - the TV remote. I just want to be sure that we get the best "surround" sound that we can.
Thanks again.

Option 2 should be fine
