Been looking at buying a receiver; this one's looking promising:

A big reason I'm wanting to get one is so I don't have to plug in/out cables to switch the output of my pc from my speakers to my headphone amp/vice versa. I'm planning on hooking up the rec/out to my headphone amp, but read in the Yamaha manual that if I have the component hooked up to out/rec off, it will cause distortion (so whenever I'm using the speakers). Onkyo's equivalent receiver's manual doesn't have this warning so I'm just wanting to make sure if it would happen or not.

Not sure what you are saying!

Maybe you could type in the exact wording from Yamaha. Rec-Out is simply a line level signal which outputs whatever is input to the currently selected input (unless you have a rec-out selector, where you can independently control what's being output to that jack)

Back in "the day" I used rec out all the time to record stuff. You could also use it to drive an Equalizer with a receiver with tape monitor. And in all that time, I never ran across any dire warnings about distortion, and I have owned Yamaha receivers for ten years ( like 6 of them.)

Sounds like a flawed design in the receiver or recording device
I see what you mean, though.

I have not seen this warning in other Yamaha receivers. Apparently some part of the signal path is maybe not properly buffered. Maybe this only happens with some tape decks.
