If you have Total Choice Premiere, the HDTV channels should not cost you anything more.
HDNet is a free programming option that is added to your list of packages. Since you're already paying for HBO and Showtime, you'll get the HDTV versions of those channels for nothing extra.
Calling DirecTV is like playing a slot machine. Sometimes you get a winner CSR, sometimes you don't. Call back and tell them you want HDNet (channel 199) and you understand is a free ala carte option. Then tell them you already subscribe to HBO and Showtime, and you want to make sure you get the HDTV versions of those 2 channels.
