I was looking at the Samsung SIR-T165 for OTA DTV viewing. (Don't have/care about satellite.) I was told that I would need a unit such as the JVC HM-DH30000 to record DTV programming.

In reviewing the specs on JVC's Web site I get the impression that the 30K has a built-in OTA tuner. In several of the threads here, people are talking about going from antenna to T165 to 30K to HDTV.

Does the JVC HM-DH30000 have a built-in DTV tuner? (i.e. antenna to 30K to HDTV)

Sorry if this question has been asked/answered already, I just can't find it.

Thanks for all replies.

The JVC deck does NOT have a built-in HDTV tuner. You will need an external set top box with firewire interface to record HD. As of now, that only appears on off-the-air only STBs.
